Transportation

Flights
Getting to Penang both from within and outside Malaysia is easy as Penang is well-connected by road, rail, sea and air. Flights are available from Kuala Lumpur to Penang by local carriers such as AirAsia and Malaysia Airlines. Direct flights are also available from some other international airlines such as Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific.

Bus
Penang is connected to almost all the states in Peninsular Malaysia by City-to-City bus. There are few express bus companies providing travel service to Penang such as Konsortium Express, Transnasional, Plusliner, Mara Liner, and others. You can choose to arrive at Sungai Nibong Bus Terminal or Butterworth Bus Terminal (mainland)

Rapid Penang
City bus to travel within Penang Island and Seberang Prai (mainland). They also provide free shuttle services from Rapid Penang Jetty Bus Terminal to Georgetown areas.

Taxi
Cover all the route in Penang. However, be careful! Taxis in Penang do not use the meter as required by the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board but instead charge fixed fares. So, negotiation skill is must here :)

Trishaw
Great for sightseeing. Only available in Georgetown areas like, Penang Road, Komtar, and Padang Kota Lama.

Ferry
Cross-channel ferry services, provided by the Penang Ferry Service, connect George Town and Butterworth, and were the only link between the island and the mainland until the bridge was built in 1985
